Today I went out and picked fresh Tomatoes and Peppers from my little garden. I wasn't sure what I could do with tomatoes and peppers. I then added spring greens from albertsons sprinkle garlic powder black pepper and a pinch of salt. I almost kept this sandwich meat free but at the last moment decided to add sliced turkey because it was going to go bad if I didn't. Check out my creation! Went out recently and had hot ginger tea, I liked it so decided to make some this am. Amazingly simple just take around four inches of ginger root peel off the skin and chop it into thin slices. put six cups of water on to boil and add the sliced ginger. I boiled it for fifteen minutes let it boil longer if you want a stronger tea. Ginger tea is good for aches, pains, upset stomach, seasick (or carsick). And in my opinion helps cure writers block too! If you want to get fancy you can add a few pine nuts as garnish and add some honey. It's Delicious.
The Postman delivered my Holy Basil Tea today so I thought I would blog about it. The first thing I noticed was the blend is of all three different types of Tulsi. Krishna Tulsi, Vana Tulsi, and Rama Tulsi, flowers and stems. I filled a glass with water added the tea bag and stuck it in the Microwave for two minutes, Held it up to my nose it has a very pleasant slightly sweet and peppery smell. I noticed the Holy Basil/ tulsi tea was a dark green color much darker than the green tea I like to drink. It tasted quite good with a peppery flavor and seemed even slightly sweet. Not sure if that was my imagination. lol. After two glasses I feel uplifted with no jitters. Tulsi Tea from Organic India. Order here and support this website! Thx Burnie I was in a hurry so I reached up and grabbed a box of macaroni and cheese, felt slightly guilty as I strained the macaroni and grabbed a stick of butter. Then a light bulb turned on in my brain. I reached into the cupboard and grabbed the olive oil instead. I added a quarter cup extra virgin olive oil instead of the butter. Olive oil has no cholesteral and more good fats than butter!! I was pleasantly suprised. The mac and cheese with healthy olive oil is quite delicious!
Holy Basil also known as Tulsi is a sacred plant from india. For 5000 years considered the ultimate tonic for every thing from the Flu to Radiation Sickness. I decided to order some in tea form. Folks from india revere this plant so much that they keep it by their front door as a good luck charm. I decided to plant some Holy Basil to see how it grows here in Eastern Wa. It is a tropical plant so when it dies in the Fall I will dry it and use it to make tea! Here is some more Info from Dr. Ralph Miller: reduces stress, enhances stamina, relieves inflammation, lowers cholesterol, eliminates toxins, protects against radiation, prevents gastric ulcers, lowers fevers, improves digestion and provides a rich supply of antioxidants and other nutrients. Tulsi is especially effective in supporting the heart, blood vessels, liver and lungs and also regulates blood pressure and blood sugar." Dr. Ralph Miller, former Director of Research for the Canadian Dept. of Health and Welfare. |
