I'm still looking for a way to market my "Trucker Jugs" I have several boxes of them stashed in my shed here in Richland WA, if you live in or are going to be passing through Tri Cities Wa (think, near King City Truckstop Pasco) and would like one I'd be glad to sell you one. Just shoot me an Email at [email protected]
In the photo below you can see my "Trucker Jug" almost three years old and still standing up to daily use. I save money every day by filling my own jug. And so far I've found almost every truck stop has a water spigot with excellent municipal grade water. This is often much better than that bottled "spring water" you find in the plastic jugs they try and sell us at truck stops. Water that is classified as "spring water" has less stringent quality regulations than the standards that cities have to follow. So if you are going to buy bottled water make sure it says "drinking water" or "distilled water" and not "spring water" My Trucker Jug is environmentally friendly too!!! Well two weeks at home waiting for my trucks motor to be rebuilt and I've put on weight. I know I blogged that I was going to go back on my trucker diet (and I did) but this time for some reason I wasn't able to drop much below 310 I think that may have been because I was going to the buffet almost every day (something that I rarely used to do). I've decided that I'm going to only order off the menu and see if that gets me back on track. Now, after two weeks at home eating late night and spending (way) too much time at my local pub I've put on nine pounds. This is my come clean post. Hopefully my truck will be out of the shop by tuesday and I will make a fresh start of it. Moral of the story if you want to lose weight, late nights and alcohol are not your friends.
Coffee and a Dougnut healthfood!? You might say? Well, when it's a reward for taking a bike ride then, I think it qualifies. I took this photo out front of the "Spudnut Shop" in Richland Wa. It opens at 4 a.m. and been there at the Uptown Shopping Center for a gazillion years. Almost as long as the citie's been here. Also, check out my super cool lemon yellow folding Bike Friday!!! I've had it for around three years now, with no problems. It's custom made, so it works fine for us big guys.
A while back I blogged about how my feet have been hurting for the last year or two and the different things I'd tried and some of the things I'd eliminated from my diet. I thought I'd found the cure for the hornets nest feeling I'd get in my feet when I eliminated artificial sweeteners. I found my neurapathy getting better when I got rid of them (namely Acesulfame Potassium) However, as has been the case every time I think I've found the cure for my neurapathy my feet started hurting again. I didn't blog about my slow return to pain, because I didn't have a clue to why it was happening, so I lived with the pain for many months while I thought about the problem. A few weeks ago I thought "hmm, I'd run out of my "Now" brand tri chromium quite a while back and because I thought it was the artificial sweeteners that were the cause of my pain I hadn't bothered to replace them. So, I bought myself another bottle of Now brand Tri- Chromium and started taking one two to three times a day with meals. The directions recomend taking one 500mcg capsule per day so talk to your Doctor if you plan on taking more. Within a few days of my taking the chromium/cinnamon supplement the pain in my feet toned way back down. I have to mention that Now brand Tri-Chromium also has 250 mg's of Cassia Cinnamon in each pill. It is possible that it is the Cassia Cinnamon which is helping my neurapathy or it could be a synergistic effect from the chromium and Cinnamon or also there is a chance it is all in my head, which case one could say it's a "placebo effect" ie just because you think something is helping it does. Whatever the case I'm going to keep taking my "Now" Brand Chromium with Cassia Cinnamon as long as I feel it helps my diabetic neurapathy. You may want to talk to your Doctor and give it a shot too. Shoot me an e mail if it works for you (or if it doesn't) I want to know. Have an awesome day!!! Burnie I've driven past Matt's Chili Dogs a million times. ten thirty this a.m. today while sitting in the yard waiting for my truck to get fixed I started to feel a grumbling in my stumach. For some reason my mind flashed on Matt's Chili Dogs sign and I headed out to my little pickup where it's parked at the Selland yard. Best breakfast ever!!! A Chicago style dog from Matt's Chili Dogs. At the corner of Marginal and south 4th near Georgetown. However my breakfast adventure is not yet over... as I finish my dog, across the street, a sign...with what appeared to be a new type of Burger surounded by words that spell out "Katsu Burger". I jump into my chevy S 10 pickup and roar across the street to park with a screech. Yes!!! a sign in the window says OPEN in flashing neon. What the heck I'm allowed to eat whatever I want with my Trucker Diet so who am I to question the rules. The daily special was called a Tamago Kick. The nice girl behind the counter told me "We don't make these burgers every day the Tamago Kick is a specialty burger." This was destiny. The Tamago Kick came with hamburger an egg and several more ingredients that I couldn't pronounce and sounded delicious. Then I remembered that I'm s'posed to be a "Health Trucker." Do You have that burger in vegetarian by any chance?" I asked hoping they hadn't noticed me standing across the street at Matt's stuffing hot dog into my face. "Yes, we have tempurah that is marinated for several hours and then deep fried that you can substitute for the beef." "O.k. I'll have one of those." Says I, feeling smug that I'm going to eat two breakfastes and get away with it. The Tamago Kick from Katsu Burger was quite delicious and I washed it down with a Canada Dry Green Tea Ginger Ale. |
