Several days ago it hit me. A few days after I quit the nicotine lozenges I started drinking diet soda every nite. Guess it was the stress of quiting nicotine that caused me to start drinking it. Diet soda, like the lozenges, has artificial sweeteners. In this case Acesulfame Potassium. The same one that was in the lozenges. So, a light bulb went on and I stopped drinking the diet soda pop. Guess what, tonite four days later, the burning neurapathy in my feet is gone to the point of being the faintest of an echo. I feel pretty safe saying that quitting diet soda and sugar free nicotine lozenges may have helped my feet stop hurting. Could the evidence point to the artificial sweetener Acesulfame Potassium that both these products contain? If you are experiencing burning tingling pain in your feet, you too, may want to take a look and see if something you use contains Acesulfame Potassium and eliminate it from your diet. Let me know if it helps! Good Luck to You, Burnie
Update 10-15-14
I still stay away from artificial sweeteners and Acesulfame Potassium. I also still get burning feet neurapathy sometimes, just not as bad. I've found that losing weight and most importantly EXERCISE like walking may have and do help my symptoms also. Another thing I started doing recently is grinding flax seeds in my coffee grinder and eating them with almond milk for breakfast. Turns out that flax seed oil is high in omega 3 oil and in Germany flax seed oil has even been approved to help with neurapathy. While I definitely think staying away from Acesulfame Potassium is a good thing and MAY help my neurapathy symptoms, this is my own completely un-scientific opinion... You need to talk to your doctor for anything health related and there need to be more scientific studies done. Thanks for checking out my website...Burnie
