You can see the difference. The farm raised egg on the left is much larger because our egg, the one on the right is from a very young chicken (six months) Our chickens have been raised free range on special, no soy, high omega 3 feed. The thing that struck me is that our soy free high omega three, home grown chicken egg is so much darker in color than the eggs we purchase. I'm not sure if its the special high omega organic feed we use or if its just the fact our chickens get to roam the yard looking for bugs or if the color difference is because our chickens are so much younger. Another thing we do or I should say don't do is use pesticides and herbicides on our property or in our garden. This means we have to weed by hand. I think it's worth it though knowing our chickens are healthy and producing healthy eggs. We use scratch and peck feed from here in Washington State where I live. It is certified non GMO and has Camelina seed as one of the ingredients. Here is a quote from their website regarding Camelina seed. "Camelina seed is 35-40% linolenic acid (omega-3) compared to canola (8%) and soy (1%)"

Our first super healthy high omega 3 Egg.Woke up this A.m to the sound of excited chickens. Cluck Cluck Cluck Cluck Baaaawk, Cluck Cluck Cluck Baaawk, you get the picture. So I threw on some flip flops and hurried around back to see what was up. Gizmo aka Red had perched herself on top of the coop and was sounding off. I looked around there was no sign of a squirrel or cat. I opened up the coop and there in the straw was nestled our first egg. At least the first egg I know about. So finally six months after bringing home our babys they are now officially producing members of the family. Good Job Red!
I decided to replace my old gas lawn mower with an old fashioned push mower. Using a mechanical push mower is great because, it's cheap to run, it gives you more exercise than a gas mower, and it doesn't shoot smelly exhaust into the environment, I was worried that it was going to be real tiring but it's much easier to push than I thought, and the lawn looks fine. I find I have to go over some areas twice, but that's O.k. 'cause I get more exercise. Also its quiet and the neighbors don't complain when I get a wild hair and decide to mow at six in the morning!! However, that being said, Gizmo and Goldie decided to remind me that there are more important things to life than mowing...like getting them raisins for breakfast.
