One of the hardiest plants growing in the arid environment of the tropics is called the Moringa Tree, aka The Drumstick Tree. Originally from the foothills of the Himalayas. The Moringa can now be found all kinds of places even here in the USA. Except you have to use a greenhouse; so here, it's a seasonal crop. It turns out that this plant when it is dried has more nutrients, amino acids, and vitamins than just about anything growing. Like 4 times the vitamin C of an orange by weight, 8 times the potassium in a Banana, and 18 times the iron that's found in spinach. It is, according to many the ultimate super food. It's even being planted in drought stricken areas because it grows so well and is so nutritious for both children and adults. I bought this powder from a market in Spokane for $60 dollars for a pound but you can find it a LOT cheaper online. Here's a good source. The farmer says this stuff is so potent that you might not want to take it close to bed time because it will keep you awake. I take it as a delicious meal replacement when I'm in a hurry in the morning, it has a faint green and nutty taste. Here's a link to a website that tells all about this amazing plant.
